BUILDING HISTORY
When Houston was founded in 1836, the junction of Congress and Main was the city's primary intersection and helped shape downtown Houston's development. Our bar was an alley way between two existing structures. A ceiling was built in between the buildings over the alley in 1882, and The Original Casino Saloon was born. The space located at 924 Congress Street has remained a bar throughout its existence, save a couple of years during Prohibition. We event have a bar ghost. Nineteenth century brick is prominently displayed in our walls with gas light fixtures. The original barrel vault ceiling is still intact today. Witness the strength of Houston's community in a space that is uniquely "Houston" and help us work with non-profits to make the city a healthier, happier, and more creative place to live.
